Have you purchased a surface cleaner only to hook it up and discover it doesn't work very well? The most common cause of this is a lack of power from your pressure washer. Surface cleaners are very simple in their design and how they work.

For a surface cleaner to run correctly it must be matched with a pressure washer that has enough power. Power is expressed as mass x speed. Pressure washers are no different. Pressure washers are rated with PSI (pounds per square inch) and GPM (gallons per minute). Most people only look at the PSI because it is the selling card for most box store pressure washers. In reality PSI is only one part of it. GPM is the other. Here is an easy way to understand it; PSI = speed GPM = mass. In order for a surface cleaner to run effectively it must have both. A rule of thumb is for every 4 inches your surface cleaner is in diameter, it needs 1 GPM of water. If you have a 16 inch surface cleaner, you will need a pressure washer that is rated at 4 GPM. Most box store pressure washers are rated at around 2 GPM. The manufacture ratings for pressure washers are fixed points and cannot be manually increased.
